Automatic data: We also collect basic technical information when you visit our website, such as your IP address and browser type. This is used for security, analytics, and improving our service.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your data exclusively for the following purposes:
- Matching you with solar installers
We pass your details to up to 3 trusted, MCS-certified solar installers in your area so they can provide you with quotes. We only share the minimum data needed for this purpose.

We may contact you by email or phone to confirm your enquiry, follow up on your quotes, or respond to any questions you have.
- Improving our service
We analyse anonymous usage data to understand how visitors use our site and improve the user experience.
- Marketing
We will only send you marketing emails if you have explicitly opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we must have a lawful reason for processing your data. We rely on the following:
Contract (Article 6(1)(b))
Processing your enquiry and providing quotes is necessary to fulfil our service contract with you.
Legitimate Interests (Article 6(1)(f))
We have a legitimate business interest in improving our service and preventing fraud. We always balance this against your rights.
Consent (Article 6(1)(a))
For marketing emails, we only process your data with your explicit, freely given consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
4. Who We Share Your Data With
We share your personal data only in the following circumstances:
Solar Installers: Your details (name, phone, email, postcode, property type) are shared with up to 3 MCS-certified solar installers in your area so they can provide quotes. These installers are independent third parties.
Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services (e.g., CAPTCHA for spam protection, email delivery services) who process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
Legal Obligations: We may share data if required by law, court order, or to prevent fraud.
Business Transfer: If Solar Scout UK is sold or merged, your data may be transferred to the new owner under the same privacy protections.
We never sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties for commercial purposes.
